At 88 years old, Jacques Proulx’s long-held dream of taking a train journey from Montreal to his hometown of Casselman, Ontario, finally came true. This journey held a special significance as it meant reliving cherished memories connecting with his mother's family.
A dedicated community member, Jacques actively engages in activities that keep his body fit and his mind sharp. His commitment to service extends to volunteering in the parish, participating in the Union des familles, assisting with Sunday bingo, and contributing to community organizations.
The Chartwell Foundation orchestrated a delightful trip for Jacques and his wife, Lise, to his hometown. They traveled in business class, spending two fulfilling days exploring Casselman's attractions. Their itinerary included visits to the museum, train station, fire station, church, and a cheese factory. A historical walking tour and a heartwarming dinner with local seniors at a Casselman retirement residence added to the unforgettable experience.
Jacques said: "It warms my heart to say that I have seen everything we hoped for, yet never expected."
